JAMES R. NOWLIN, III — CEO & Managing Principal

James Nowlin is a business leader on the move. Having practiced law at one of the most prestigious law firms in Texas and having served as a Managing Director of the Dallas office of the largest legal search consulting firm in the world, Nowlin founded Excel Global Partners (EGP) with a commitment to distinguishing his firm as a high-caliber solutions provider. Realizing the rapid success of EGP's business model, Nowlin quickly grew the firm in its early years to provide services to companies ranging in size from mid-market to Fortune 100. Today, EGP is a well-respected firm with clients across the United States and a network spanning the globe.

Over the past several years, Nowlin's work with equity partner, John Sheldon, and EGP's management team has resulted in having completed several multi-million dollar commercial real estate transactions and having successfully led companies through more than five billion dollars in transactions. Nowlin credits his team's success with always sharing the client's sense of urgency and by measuring EGP's success in term of his clients' financial success.

In addition, Nowlin is an active member of several chambers of commerce and serves on numerous non-profit and governmental affairs boards. He has been published on a number of topics including finance, real estate, constitutional law, and workplace diversity. Nowlin holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Virginia, has completed executive management programs at Dartmouth's Tuck School of Business and Northwestern's Kellogg School of Business, and holds a Juris Doctorate degree from the Duke University School of Law where he served as Editor-in-Chief of one of its law reviews. He is a member of the State Bar of Texas.

 

JOHN L. SHELDON — COO & CFO

Having served as International Controller overseeing operations in twenty-five countries to Chief Financial Officer of a $500 million division of a publicly-traded company, John Sheldon's experience and commitment to client service are second to none.

Sheldon has led businesses for nearly fifteen years. During that time, he witnessed all aspects of business from working on the assembly line floor to managing company-wide change. Sheldon believes in hard work, teamwork, and positive management, each of which has served him well as a business leader.

With his diverse skills and strategic mindset for practical problem-solving, Sheldon left corporate America to leverage his rare skill set to directly assist companies on a larger scale as a lead consultant. His clients, ranging from high-growth startup firms to large-cap companies going through significant changes, have benefited from Sheldon's experience not only in finance and operations, but from his understanding of how all functions of an organization must come together for success. Sheldon quickly becomes his clients' go-to-person to effectively coordinate their activities on major transactions and changes. He leads by sharing his clients' sense of urgency and by knowing when and how to think outside of the box.

From finance and operations to treasury and legal, Sheldon has led teams from India and China to Brazil and Germany. Sheldon realizes that his background in management and consulting, along with the successes in consulting and team management of the firm's President, James Nowlin, provide a rare and welcomed level of leadership and expertise in the consulting industry. Sheldon and Nowlin share the belief that EGP sets a new standard of excellence for expertise and client service.

Sheldon holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and Finance from Susquehanna University, has completed the Pennsylvania Governor's School of Business at the Wharton School of Business, and is a Certified Mergers & Acquisitions Advisor.

 

KATHLEEN L. KISSAM — Director of Financial IT Solutions, Eastern Region Practice Leader

Kathleen brings over 17 years of experience within the finance, accounting, financial systems, and project management. Drawing upon her breadth of experience with companies, from start-ups, to major public institutions, to the mid-market to the Fortune 500, Kathleen and her team of consultants provide practical, real-world solutions to clients.

An accomplished thought leader, Kathleen has an extensive background in leveraging the latest technology to deliver valuable business intelligence on a timely basis. Whether developing and administering systems for SEC reporting, designing reporting and analysis tools for private equity-backed firms, identifying practical solutions to government and mid-market organizations, Kathleen and her team are known for strategically developing solutions scaled to the client's resources and needs.

Prior to joining EGP, Kathleen was Global Financial Reporting Systems Manager for Ingersoll Rand where she oversaw a team of system administrators responsible for managing systems including Oracle Hyperion Financial Management (HFM), Oracle Essbase, Hyperion Enterprise, and Longview Khalix. She also managed the integration of the global financial systems for a $10 Billion acquisition as well as the global design and implementation of HFM across 700 legal entities and 5 business units.

With a Bachelors of Science in Accounting, Kathy has held numerous pure Corporate Accounting, Financial Consolidations and Reporting, and Financial Planning & Analysis roles for Fortune 500 companies, in addition to having served as a Finance Project Manager for Tyco International. Her breadth of experience in managing teams and projects on a global scale to identifying solutions and implementing a wide array of financial systems is supplemented by her broad experience as an end-user in the FP&A and Accounting organizations. Kathy brings her diverse background to EGP clients, both large and small, to help them select, implement, and maintain solutions that are the right fit for their organization today while maintaining a keen eye on the strategic goals and objectives of their ownership and leadership teams. Clients value Kathy's approach to understanding their needs and collaborates to leverage Financial Systems to take their organization, reporting, and metrics to the next level.
